My Little (and big) Black Books

Somewhere along life's way I have found two companions that literally daily save me. It could be the enormous amount of aspartame or maybe just the amount of information, but I struggle to remember all that a mommy should from day to day. I, like every mommy, have my little system that "works for me" and thought that I would share.

First the little black book....It houses the memebership cards, credit cards, doctors office cards, and any other card size info. I just found that no wallet has as many places to view all the necessary cards so I bought a business card holder and there you have it all of the cards can be viewed quickly.

In the Big black book is all of the info that I need to function from day to day. All but the calender I decided to create my own version of since I found it difficult to find exactly what I wanted in 8X11 size. The contents are..
  • To do list
  • School calenders for everyone in the family
  • Grocery list
  • Birthday list
  • Address/Phone/email
  • Mailing labels/stamps/thank you cards
  • Books to read/websites to visit
  • Calender

Anyway, what great mommy orgainzing tips do you have?

Very organized you are. This looks like a great system for you. I appreciate the example.

Have you ever read Sidetracked Home Executives? I used that system when I was a busy mommy---it worked like a dream for me and my household. I think you probably already have what works best for you.

I especially like your little black book. That'd be really helpful for me. I have tried systems like your big black book before and I don't keep up with them. My system mainly is a large purse with stuff all jumbled in there that I occasionally clean out. Okay, that's not really it. Actually, my wall calendar is my biggest, most needed organizational tool. You know, with different colored markers for each person in the family & their activities.

I really admire how organized you keep that big black book!!

Monica, Have you ever misplaced your black books?

I do the wall calendar thing with our activities and I have a small calendar for my purse. But, I really like your card organizing system. I'm always wasting time looking up the phone number of a doctor, dentist, physical therapist, hair stylist, repair person, etc. Your idea would save a lot of time.

Kathy,

I am really not very organized, that's why I need good systems. I tend to walk from room to room trying to remember what I'm doing. I'M ONLY 31!

Neva,

I found the book that you are talking about and read an exert from amazon. Looks really funny like those ladies were living in some chaos before. Thanks for sharing.

Lisa,

I like the different colored markers on the calender idea. That is good. Trust me, I have used the purse pile system. It wasn't pretty!

NB,

The little book does save me. When you are just taking care of yourself it is easy, but times four the doctors, dentists, specialists all start running together. Not to mention all of the "membership cards" to all of the grocery stores.

Thanks eveyone for sharing!
