Stormy Season

Wow! We have had a very stormy season and "it aint over yet". They are telling us that we should expect more storms today and possibly all week. I don't remember a season in a long time where there have been so many reported tornados and wind damage. I know that many areas in the state are suffering from damage. I started thinking that sometimes our lives are exactly the same way. We have seasons of turmoil and destruction. I thought that I would list the similarities. So whether it is a severe storm in our skies or in our lives here is what happens.

when the storm is approaching - we have to deal with fear and anxiety, we begin to prepare, we question whether or not we have what we need to survive, we pray - maybe even more and better than usual.

during the storm - we run for safety, we gather the ones that we love and draw them close, we pray more intensly.

after the storm - we clean up the mess, we feel grateful that we survived and thank God for it, we realize who are real friends are (because they come around to help), we realize that we are changed.

In every body's garden,
a little rain must fall
or life's sweetest, fairest flowers
wouldn't grow or bloom at all.
And though the clouds
so heavy, oh, my friend.
I'm sure that, God, who sent the clouds
will send the rainbow's end.

I love this post! I can't believe you are having more storms! Saying a quick prayer that God will protect you and yours in every storm of life, including the impending one.

I don't like life storms, but they are when I grow the most. Picking up the mess after a storm is one thing I had never thought about. Good post.

We've been spending lots of time in the scaredy hole lately. Actually we are using the unfilled baptistry at the church building beside our house. I think there is a lot of symbolism in that as well.
I'll be praying for your storms!
