A little of this and a little of that......

THE THIS.....

My kids went with my very patient and loving brother and his girlfriend to Childress to attend a family reuninon on my Dad's side this weekend. We took them to my brother on Thursday evening full of food, armed with portable dvd player, and threatend to keep the lips zipped so that little brother would still love his big sister. He said that they were good, but sometimes he is just really nice and a giant liar. They had a fun weekend and got to meet some new second cousins and all of that other fun family reunion stuff. I would say that they missed us terribly and couldn't wait for our return, but going to the grandparents house via the uncle is way more fun that hanging with the parents all weekend. They had a blast!

THE THAT.....

We went to a couples retreat sponsered by Coaches Outreach. We made the 5 1/2 hour drive down to Kerrville, Texas (beautiful part of Texas) on friday morning. We stopped in Fredricksburg for a little shopping and then arrived at our hotel around4:00. This is such a special treat for coaches becasue we actually only paid $100 for the entire weekend (two nights hotel, six meals, and great speakers). The rest is paid by sponsors and private donors. Most of the donors are people who believe in the ministry of christian coaches to kids and appreciate the unique relationship that coaches develop with these teenagers. The entire conference focuses on the marriage because some really smart people realized that without the support of a good wife these men will not be able to effectively minister to kids. We had a great speaker from Irving Bible church, Andy McQuitty. He used the song of solomon to bring a lesson to couples about every aspect of a strong relationship. We also had an amazing music minister, Michael Bridges from Mesquite. He was hilarious and moving. We had lots of small group time where we talked with other coaching couples to discuss the pains and joys of being a christian coach family. Like any enrichment weekend we feel rejuvinated and relaxed. We also know that we will be better parents, partners, and ministers to kids.

WARNING TMI AHEAD.......

It was really nice to sleep next to my husband without a four year old boy in the middle. He never starts there, but he has figured out that if he sneaks in during the middle of the night he can slide in the middle and his parents will never know. Until the next morning, when we wake up with feet in our faces and find ourselves hugging the edge of the bed becasue he is now sleeping perpendicular to the two of us.

I hope that you had wonderful weekend and may God bless your week!

I am jealous of your weekend. I really hope James and I get to do something like that sometime.

I'm glad you and your family had a good weekend.

I feel your pain. My 5 year old still sneaks in at night after we're a sleep.
