God sent a bee.....

Yesterday, Rylan and I went to get gas before making the short trip out of town to buy groceries and run the weekly errands. As we were filling up a bee flew into the van. I worked to get it out (you know swatting and screaming). I never saw it leave, but I couldn’t find it either. So, I decided that it must have escaped my craziness out the other window.

We got about 1 mile out of town when “the bee” that must have grown because it looked to be about the size of a locust began swarming my head and buzzing (angrily). Now, my brain was telling me that a bee sting would not kill me, but my frantic driving could, however my inner girl was screaming and flailing as if I were being attacked by an entire family of bees. Of course, I pulled over and again tried to encourage the bee (by swatting and screaming) that he would be happier outside of my van. He flew down between the windshield and dash. Perhaps he flew through the secret passage from the dash to the outside (that I convinced myself existed), but I couldn’t stand to imagine that he could at any moment rejoin us so I drove home and got Rocky’s car.

When we got home from the grocery store I noticed that there was a giant puddle under my van. I looked under and saw a green fluid dripping from the van. Apparently, something (a hose, tube, valve, I don’t speak “CAR”) is not functioning properly. Rocky looked under the hood and noticed that there was no antifreeze in my van. I guess that if we had continued on our way yesterday in the van then we would have overheated and been stuck on the side of the road waiting for help.

Ashlynn looked at me with a very serious face after I told her the entire story and said, “God sent a bee”. It amazes me that my kids see God so much more clearly than I do sometimes. God is at work in our lives in ways that we so often never notice. So thank you God for sending a Bee….and of course for not letting the bee sting me.
