THOUGHTS

Most of you are aware that I don't keep much private. I feel the need to share the expensive donut story. When I was pregnant with Ashlynn, I craved chocolate donuts. We weren't just kind of poor we were "po". I had just graduated from cosmetology school and Rocky was still in school and playing football. We knew that we had no money in the checking account, but I really wanted a chocolate donut. So the hormones took over and I went to the store. They didn't have just one, they had an entire dozen (about $3.00). I purchased the box, of course. That little stunt caused an overdrawn account. That was a $23.00 donut. Now, you would think that I had learned my lesson, but NO! The other day Rylan was really hungry on the way to mothers day out. I had no brought my cash (we are on a cash only spending system) and it is the end of the month. I knew that it would not be a good idea to use the debit card, but he was really hungry. Guess what he wanted? Yes, a donut. Again, overdrawn by $.60. So that was a $31.80 donut. The moral of this story is DON'T EAT DONUTS, NOT ONLY WILL THEY MAKE YOU FAT, THEY WILL MAKE YOU OVERDRAWN. Yes, I do blame the donuts, not my math skills!

A Good time for Potty Humor

I have the wonderful oppurtunity to be typing my grandmothers journal. She has written amazing stories about her childhood. Yesterday, I was typing the part about how they used the "outhouse" in the day and the "johnny pot" at night. I became strangely interested in finding out more about this so here are some websites for you:

She said that it was the early '50's before they had indoor facilities. I have never in my entire life thought of using the toilet inside as a luxury. I do now! She writes that they used magazine pages as toilet paper and they worried about snakes biting them on the behind. I have magazines in the bathroom, but have never wiped with one. And can you imagine worrying about a snake during that moment? Maybe you too will view your potty experience a bit differently today!

Inspiration

I continue to be amazed at the wonderful people in my life. Recently my brother, Keith, sent me an e-card. It may have been one of the most wonderful ones that I have ever received. It is just an ecouragement of just how unique I am and how God has a special plan just for me. That made me feel so good! I think that we forget that a lot. We are all different and are all to be used by God differently. It's so easy to get caught up in a world that wants what everyone else has. There is no other me or you!

Only one you
by John Fischer

Mister Rogers was right after all: There is only one you. But this information is much more important than just boosting your self-esteem. It should help you better serve others by being more confident about your God-given role in life.
No one else fits your shape. No one else has your blend of gifts, talents, and natural abilities making you very important in the whole scheme of things. God made our bodies with many parts, Paul wrote, and he has put each part just where he wants it. (1 Corinthians 12:18) And as it is with the human body, so it is with the Body of Christ, which is the corporate collection of all who believe.
But this uniqueness goes beyond giftedness; it reaches as well into the depth of each of our experiences in our life of faith. No one else has your life. No one else has your pain, your hardships, your joys, or your sorrows. Everything in life shapes us and we are shaped by everything for a reason so that we can touch others in a unique way based upon who we are and what weve been through. God is amazing. He doesnt waste anything in our lives.
Every piece of our lives and experiences can be used by Christ to touch someone else. We were made for each other; we live for each other; we even die for each other by dying well, as it was once referred to in a memorial service I attended. We die with hope so that others who live might see the reality of Christ in even the darkest of hours. See? God uses everything.
Are you just getting by, or are you living for a reason? Think about your unique gifts and ask yourself how those gifts are benefiting others. What specific way is God using you to touch others in the Body of Christ? Do you seem to have an extra measure of wisdom, or mercy, or discernment, or knowledge, or administration, or desire to serve? These will help determine how you can look for opportunities to help others.
And then, think about the things you have gone through so far in your life especially the difficult or challenging things where God has met you with his faith. That information is not just for you, its for you to empathize with and encourage others who have encountered similar struggles.
God isnt messing around here. There are no accidents with our lives. Whatever we have received and experienced has shaped who we are, and because of that, we are qualified. There is truly no one else like you for a reason.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Blessings

I feel blessed to have modern conviences. There are so many things that I never realize make my life easier. I can honestly say that walking through the past with my grandparents has made me aware of just how easy we have it today.

So that's all from this day in the life of mommysmart!
