My favorite thing about my three year old is the unbelievable amount of why's that he will ask in one conversation. The other day he and I were home alone and I was on the treadmil (trying to read). He sat on the stationary bike next to me and began our "why" conversation. Here is how that went:

Mommy, why are you on the treadmil?

Because Mommy needs to work out.

Why you need to work out?

Because Mommy has a big behind.

Why you have a big behind?

Because Mommy likes to eat chocolate.

Why you eat chocolate.

Because when Mommy gets sad, it makes me feel better.

Why it makes you feel better?

Because it works like the overpriced drugs that enhance serotonin production which reduces Mommy's anxiety and makes me not feel bad.

Why you feel bad?

Well, son probably because I have a big behind. Want to play memory!

As you can see, this could have gone on forever. I have to say that it was a very productive therapy session for me. It is amazing what you can find out about yourself by asking why. I may need to consult with him more often.

17Truly I say to you, whoever does not accept and receive and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child shall not in any way enter it.

I love the curiosity and innocence of my kids. I love the sparkle in their eyes that not many adults wear. I wish that as we aged we didn't loose that quality. I strive everyday to be more like my kids!

So that's all from this day in the life of mommysmart!

Love the kid stuff. I can never, ever get to many kid stories. Thanks for sharing it. Sounds like I need to hang with your 3 year-old ... I could use some counseling. :)

Maybe he could do some over-the-phone counceling sessions?
