Advice from Rocky

To lose a pound or gain a pound of body weight a human needs to burn or have an excess of 3500 calories in a week. Follow?

A Soft Drink or similar beverages average 120 calories

So one a day for a year that your body does not need is 43,800 calories

Which is about 12.51 pounds a year one can gain if they do not do something to burn the unneeded calories of soft drinks

Does that mean no soft drinks? No.

It means make sure you exercise to overcome excess caloric intake.

Rocky is smart. There will always be these new fancy diets, pills and weight loss promises. But it all comes down to the fact that you loose weight you have to burn more calories than your body needs as fuel. Put simply: eat less, excersise more.

Last March, I decided to start walking for 30 minutes a day and added even more fiber to my already semi-healthy diet. I will post on my blog sometime more details on my motives, but simply, I want to be an example for my kids. By November, I had lost 30 pounds and 2 sizes just by upping my activity level. I have gained back 5 pounds sinse December, but I still walk when I can. I am looking forward to March when I think I can be more regular. It is my 30 minutes of alone time with God to think, pray, and absorb His health drug of Vitamins from the sun. So, in March, I will join you in your effort.

Mon... I'm so excited about mine and Rocky's race in April. Lea Ann Dean may want to come with us too. It's going to be fun.

If the weather don't cooperate I'm not going to be ready for the hard 9 miles. It has been below freezing here for a week. I only have in 3 miles. But today's supposed to be 55 degrees... so I'm hitting the road this afternoon.
